Judge Anne Elizabeth Barnes Presiding Judge Anne won election in 1998 to the Georgia Court of Appeals in a three-way race without a runoff, and took office January 1, 1999. She was the first woman to be elected in a state-wide judicial race without having been first appointed to the bench, and was re-elected, without opposition, to a second term in 2004. In 2010, she was elected to a third term, receiving more votes than any other candidate in the State of Georgia. She has served as Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals. After attending DeKalb County public schools, Judge Barnes entered Georgia State University, and graduated magna cum laude. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia, and her Master of Laws in the Judicial Process from the University of Virginia. Presiding Judge Barnes has served on the Judicial Council of Georgia's Standing Committee on Policy and its Budget Committee, the Chief Justice's Commission on Professionalism, the Domestic Violence Committee of the Judicial Council of Georgia, the Council of Chief Judges of the State Courts of Appeal, the Women in the Profession Committee of the Atlanta Bar, as well as the Advisory Board of Georgia State University's Department of Sociology, and the National Board of Foreverfamily (formerly Aid to Children of Imprisoned Mothers, Inc.). She has chaired the Atlanta Bar Association Judicial Section, and has served as Vice President on the National Trial Lawyers Association.
Judge Vonda Evans The Honorable Judge Vonda Evans has been presiding over legal cases for the citizens of Detroit and surrounding Wayne County for 14 years. The Judge grew up in Detroit and gets a tremendous sense of accomplishment and satisfaction from being able to help people deal with difficult situations effectively. She is the proud product of Detroit Public Schools, graduating from Henry Ford High School. She then attended and graduated from North Carolina A & T State University, whereshe earned her Bachelor of Arts. She graduated from Thomas Cooley Law School, where she earned her Juris Doctorate. After passing the Michigan State Bar she became an attorney at the age of 25. Prior to her becoming a judge, she was a former Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor, who served in the Criminal and Family Divisions for many years. She was the last judge elected to the Recorder’s Court bench, where she was the youngest judge on the bench to be elected at that time. She is a member and regularly attends Greater Grace Temple in Detroit Michigan. She has recently presided over many high profile criminal cases including a case in which Cadaver dogs where allowed as evidence in a criminal trial in the Midwest. Her extensive experience in the law coupled with her personal experiences regarding her charismatic and “electric” personality and intelligence has earned her a reputation for effectively communicating with dozens of litigants that appear before her weekly. Her no nonsense common sense approach to resolving legal issues, has made her courtroom popular among many “court watchers”. Many of whom regularly return to witness her effectively “meting out justice”. She is divorced and the proud mother of two daughters.
Elizabeth A. Campbell Partner and Chief Diversity Officer Elizabeth is an attorney and diversity practitioner with a successful record of working with business leaders, executives and teams to accomplish organizational goals. In her role as Partner and Chief Diversity Officer, she is responsible for the development and implementation of the diversity and inclusion components of the firm's strategic plan. She collaborates with the firm's Labor and Employment Section attorneys and is a frequent speaker, training facilitator and author on the topic of diversity and inclusion and related employment law topics. She works closely with the chairs of the firm’s Diversity Committee and the Women’s Initiative Team, and is a member of the Hiring, Professional Development and Associates Committees. She also collaborates with the firm’s marketing professionals to drive marketing and branding strategies; human resources professionals to develop human capital strategies for all employees; and accounting professionals on the firm's supplier/vendor diversity pursuits. During her career, Elizabeth has worked in the areas of administrative and employment law both in law firm and in-house counsel settings, and has led human resources, employment relations and diversity and inclusion strategies at large corporations. Before joining Andrews Kurth in February 2007, Elizabeth served as Vice President of Employment Relations and Corporate Diversity Officer for ARAMARK in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Elizabeth received her J.D. from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and her B.A. from the American University in Washington, D.C Attorney Elizabeth is contributing to the show in her individual capacity.
